Recent training sessions for MSI in Greece

Providing regular training sessions and workshops for other organisations in the sector is an important part of our work, as sharing our legal expertise and knowledge helps to strengthen the sector overall.

RLS's Lucy Alper provides regular training to Medical Solidarity International (MSI). The sessions are designed to provide a legal overview and to provide history and context regarding the situation for refugees in Greece.

The coordinator at MSI stated:

"Lucy provides regular trainings to me and our team at MSI, taking time to guide us through the legal frameworks and current realities of migration law. She provides a powerful overview of the asylum system’s complexity, international differences, and the significant obstacles displaced individuals face. Of particular note is her detailed account of the asylum process in Greece, where she expertly explains the requirements for reapplying and how asylum laws have evolved in recent years. My team are deeply impressed by the depth and scope of Lucy's presentation. It is an excellent opportunity to view the topic of asylum from a different perspective and gain new insights. We are very grateful for such multifaceted, informative, and deeply moving sessions."

Other feedback from attendees includes:

  • "Lucy did an excellent job breaking down complex legal topics into language that was easy to understand."
  • "The presentation did a good job connecting legal frameworks with real-world scenarios, which made the information practical."
  • "It was so helpful! I wish it would have been longer."

Medical Solidarity International (https://medical-solidarity.org/) provide medical humanitarian aid for people in need at the EU’s external borders. Together with medically trained specialists such as doctors, nurses and interpreters.
