Our Staff

Olivia Clark

Executive Director

Olivia is the Executive Director. She is an Australian-qualified lawyer with over a decade of experience in refugee law and access to justice. Prior to joining RLS, she led the legal programme in Afghanistan for the Norwegian Refugee Council and worked for UNHCR in South Africa and Switzerland. She also spent seven years as the UK Pro Bono Director at DLA Piper, co-managing the firm’s human rights and refugee law practice.

Nick Pilkington

Fundraising and Operations Director

Nick is the Fundraising and Operations Director. He brings a decade of experience working with voluntary organisations. Originally from the UK, Nick is now based in Athens.

Isaac Shaffer

Legal Director

Isaac is the Legal Director of RLS, overseeing legal work and strategy. An experienced solicitor in Immigration and Asylum, he has contributed to nonprofits and law firms such as the Refugee Legal Centre and Wilson Solicitors LLP. Previously Head of Legal at Justice Centre Hong Kong (2016–2021).

Lucy Alper

Athens Project Coordinator

Lucy is a qualified solicitor and has been RLS's Athens Project Coordinator since November 2019. In addition to managing the Athens law clinic, she is actively engaged in legal work. She contributes to RLS's mission by creating legal resources, conducting outreach sessions, and providing training to other sector groups. A qualified member of the Law Society's Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme, Lucy previously worked as a caseworker for immigration solicitors and law centres in the UK before relocating to Greece in 2013.

Shamim Sarabi

Community Outreach & Research Lead

Shamim leads RLS’s community outreach and research programs, with years of experience in quantitative and qualitative research. She holds a master’s degree in Social Policy and Social Research from University College London. Originally from Afghanistan and having arrived in the UK as a refugee, she advocates for the legal rights of refugees in the UK.

Rebecca Haack

Finance & Operations Manager

Bec is the Finance and Operations Manager, supporting financial management, compliance, HR, and organisational operations. She has two decades of experience across strategic and organisational management (charity/voluntary sector), community development, public sector service planning, and charitable service delivery.

Flora Barr

Fundraising Officer

Flora is the Fundraising Officer. She joined RLS in 2024, bringing experience from several voluntary organisations.

Artemis Tsiakka

Lawyer

Artemis is a Greek lawyer who has worked with RLS since 2021, managing client cases and representing them throughout the asylum procedure. With twelve years of experience in the refugee field, she specialises in cases involving survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.

Anastasia Matsouka

Lawyer

Anastasia is a lawyer and member of the Athens Bar Association, with an LLM in sociology of law. She has worked in refugee law for five years and joined RLS in May 2023 as one of our lawyers in Athens.

Tobi Hautekiet

Legal Caseworker

Tobi originally joined Refugee Legal Support as a volunteer in Athens in 2019, providing interpreting for French-speakers, assisting in asylum and family reunion applications and in setting up and running the Greek non-profit company and English charity. While working at RLS he completed his conversion degree and went on to train as a solicitor at Bates Wells in London, completing seats in the immigration and charity departments, working among others on complex family reunion entry clearance applications to the UK. He qualified in 2025 and returned to RLS as a caseworker. Tobi speaks English, French, Greek, Dutch and a bit of Estonian. He studied Classics in the UK and European Studies in Belgium before converting to law.

Basma Kamel

Outreach Officer

Basma is the Outreach Officer at Refugee Legal Support. IAA Level 2 Asylum & Protection qualified, she works with newly arrived people in the UK, organising accessible information sessions on the asylum system. She also provides post-release support to individuals criminalised for their method of arrival.

Francesca Parkes

Senior Caseworker

Francesca is a Senior Caseworker. She holds degrees in English and French Law, is certified with the IAA at Level 2 for Asylum and Protection, and has completed the Bar Exams. Previously based in Calais for four years, she now works from the London office on family reunion and asylum applications.

Ellie Doyle

Senior Caseworker & Project Coordinator, Family Routes Project

Ellie is the Senior Caseworker and Project Coordinator for the Family Routes Project. She holds an LLB in Law and is qualified under the IAAS scheme and as a Level 2 Immigration and Asylum Caseworker. She joined RLS in 2022 and is based in London, where she works on family reunion applications.

Rebecca Morris

Supervising Senior Caseworker (IAAS) & Solicitor

Rebecca is a solicitor and is a Supervising Senior Caseworker under the IAAS scheme. She graduated from the University of Bath with first-class honours in European studies with French and Italian in 2008. During a year of volunteering in France she spent time supporting a charity in Calais and saw firsthand the effects of Fortress Europe. Her interests in migration and asylum grew on return to the UK when she mentored a young UASC in Croydon.

Chris Randall

Chair of Trustees

Chris is Chair of Trustees and a member of the finance and fundraising subcommittees. A retired human rights lawyer and keen cyclist, he raises funds for RLS through an annual sponsored ride.

Annette Elder

Trustee

Annette is a human rights, asylum and immigration law solicitor with over 30 years of extensive legal aid and voluntary sector experience. She was one of the founders of RLS.

Rebecca Chapman

Trustee

Rebecca is an immigration and human rights barrister based in London.

Aditi Kapoor

Trustee

Aditi is an RLS trustee and member of the Board’s HR Subcommittee. She is a solicitor and works as a pro bono lawyer and manager at an international law firm.

Charlotte Blundy

Trustee

Charlotte is a Trustee and a member of the Board’s Finance and Fundraising Subcommittees. She has worked in international development for the past 13 years, with a particular focus on supporting refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants.

Eva Doerr

Trustee

Eva is an immigration and human rights barrister based in London.

Polly Rossdale

Trustee & Safeguarding Lead

Polly is a trustee and Safeguarding Lead on the RLS Board. She has worked with asylum seekers and refugees in the UK and internationally for almost 20 years, with a particular interest in torture rehabilitation. She lived and worked in Greece from 2016–2018 and now splits time between the UK and France.
