We provide legal support and information to people fleeing Afghanistan, through in-house casework, pro bono partnerships, and community outreach across the UK and Europe.

The Taliban’s return to power in 2021 left many Afghans - including those who had supported the British government - at serious risk. The British government set up schemes to resettle people fleeing oppression. But the resettlement schemes have been chaotic, beset by delays, confusion, and arbitrary, often unreasonable limitations.

Through APBI, we’ve provided vital legal information and support to Afghans in the UK. This includes direct legal casework delivered in-house and in partnership with pro bono lawyers. So far under the project, over 50 Afghans have arrived in the UK and 646 Afghans have received one off advice.

As the government winds down the Afghan relocation and resettlement schemes, we’re no longer accepting new referrals for this project.

“She did not only help me with my case but she helped me with bringing them from Afghanistan to here, finding a house for us, and registering them for the government’s support. How could I do all those things without her support?”  - Client
