Today, we’re proud to share our new strategy for 2026-2028. This will guide us through the next few years and help to ensure our values and vision are reflected in everything we do.
At RLS, we envision a world where people are prioritised above borders. Where safe migration routes are accessible to all, immigration systems are fair and transparent, and laws protecting the rights of people who migrate are upheld and respected.
We believe diversity should be celebrated, racism must end, and institutions and societies must be decolonised.
Every person who migrates deserves to live in safe and dignified conditions, free from the threat of detention, and to have access to free, high-quality legal support when they need it.
Our strategy is built around three core priorities:
- Lived experience
RLS has a long-standing commitment to working in solidarity with people who migrate, and to ensuring that our work is informed by lived experience.
We’ll be building on our existing community engagement, ensuring that people with lived experience have a meaningful role in shaping RLS, including our strategic direction, governance and decision-making.
- High quality legal casework and collaboration
As the legal and political environment in which we operate becomes increasingly restrictive, the demand for high quality legal support will continue to grow. We’ll help more people with expert legal advice and information, legal resources and in-depth casework in our specialist areas.
This includes asylum, family reunion, support for people who have been criminalised in the context of migration, and a growing focus on people displaced in the context of climate change.
To enhance collective impact, we’ll provide support to frontline legal professionals and pro bono partners through training, information sharing, and collaborative partnerships.
- Community legal services
Access to justice is under immense pressure. We’ll ensure communities facing barriers to accessing formal legal advice can receive clear, high quality legal information and support. This support will be delivered through a range of channels, informed by community preferences, including in-person sessions and appropriate digital platforms.
Alongside these priorities, we’re investing in the future of RLS. We’ll build a stronger, more resilient organisation across our work in the UK, Greece and Northern France, so that we can continue providing vital legal support for many years to come.
