A stateless Kuwaiti Bidoon activist, Qaed was granted asylum in the UK; with RLS's support he finally reunited with his family in Manchester.
“The journey will be difficult… Stay strong and carry on.”
Qaed’s long struggle to reunite his family is marked by tenacity and tireless spirit. As Kuwaiti Bidoons, the family’s statelessness and oppression forced them into precarious existence. After Qaed took part in protests, he became a target for government crackdowns and had to escape. He reached Europe, but found only more hardships and uncertainty there. Eventually, he was granted asylum in the UK—but his family were still struggling abroad, without their dad.
RLS became involved in his case through our family reunion project. We worked persistently on his case in collaboration with volunteer lawyers. After two years of sustained effort, Qaed was finally reunited with his wife and children in Manchester. Your support allows us to continue helping families like Qaed’s to live together in a safe place.
