Separated from family as a child, Mohammed endured years of uncertainty before RLS helped secure his reunion with his brother in the UK.
“This gives me hope… I want to learn new things.”
Mohammed was only a child when he had to flee Kuwait. When his dad and brother took part in anti-government protests, he too was threatened with arrest. Alone and with no other family to look after him, he made a perilous journey to Greece in the hope of being reunited with his brother. Life on Lesvos was uncertain and isolating. The onset of the pandemic brought delays to his family reunion application, which ultimately expired and was then rejected.
RLS, committed to fighting such miscarriages of justice, partnered with a law firm to take his case to judicial review. Our hard work paid off. Last November, Mohammed successfully reached the UK, finally reuniting with his brother after seven years. “This gives me hope,” he says. “I want to study. I want to learn new things.” With your support, we can help more people like Mohammed through an unjust legal system.
