Our new Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) Self-Help Guide is now available. This resource has been developed as part of the Afghan Pro Bono Initiative (APBI), which RLS delivers in partnership with Safe Passage.
ARAP is one of the resettlement schemes available to Afghans who are trying to find safety in the UK. The application process can be difficult to navigate without legal support.
This guide builds on the feedback and recommendations from Afghan community members who reviewed the first edition, published in February 2023.
It’s a comprehensive toolkit, designed to support eligible Afghans to apply for resettlement under the ARAP scheme, or seek review for their refused application under the scheme.
As we highlighted in our recent report, the government hasn’t fulfilled their promises to Afghan people. The resettlement schemes available are constrained by lengthy delays, inconsistent decision making and a difficult system.
We continue to call on the UK government to reform the resettlement schemes, but whilst they remain insufficient, we’re hopeful that this guide can support Afghan nationals and their family members who are unable to obtain legal support.
You can view the full guide below. It’s available in English, Dari and Pashto.
