RLS’ legal coordinator and caseworker Lucy Alper gave an open advice session at Forge for Humanity on refugee law and the asylum procedure, along with discussion and time allocated for questions. The session was for people about to register their claims for asylum and subsequent applications, many of whom remain in limbo as the Asylum Service’s online platform isn’t offering any appointments .
Forge for Humanity is an organisation in Athens that supports lone men, a demographic which tends to be deprioritized when assistance cannot be offered to all. Forge “advocates for men travelling solo to have the means to fulfill their potential, and works alongside them in navigating their way towards becoming independent and active members of society”, and this includes support in navigating the asylum process.
